Greater Autonomy for the Nation’s Capital Hearing 11/18/09

There will be a hearing  in the House Subcommittee on Federal Workforce, Postal Service and the District of Columbia on the issue of “Greater Autonomy for the Nation’s Capital” at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 18, 2009 at the Oversight and Government Reform hearing room, 2154 Rayburn House Office Building.

While the lack of full representation in Congress for District citizens is the most visible injustice, we also need to shine light on DC’s lack of local budgetary and legislative autonomy. This hearing will address some of those underlying issues.

Witnesses will include:

Natwar M. Gandhi, CFO, District of Columbia

Alice Rivlin, Economist

Walter Smith, Executive Director, DC Appleseed
