Perspectives of DC Law Students on Statehood and Self-Determination
Please forward to any DC law students who would be interested in testifying in front of a special committee hearing at UDC on January 21st:
Councilmember Michael A. Brown, Chair of the Special Committee on Statehood and Self-Determination, announces a Public Oversight Hearing regarding the perspectives of local law students on DC statehood and self-determination. The Public Oversight Hearing is scheduled for Thursday, January 21, 2010 at 2:00 pm in Building 44, Room A-03 at the University of the District of Columbia, 4200 Connecticut Avenue, NW.
Participation at this public oversight hearing will be limited to current DC law students. Students who wish to testify are asked to telephone Amy Bellanca, Legislative Counsel to Councilmember Michael A. Brown, at 724-8105, or send an e-mail to abellanca@dccouncil.us. Students are requested to furnish their names, addresses, telephone numbers and school by the close of business on Friday, January 15, 2010. They should also bring with them 20 copies of their written testimony or submit one copy of their written testimony to Ms. Bellanca via email by Monday, January 18, 2010. Oral testimony will be limited to 3 minutes to permit each witness an opportunity to be heard.
Written statements for the record are encouraged and will be made a part of the official record. All written statements should be submitted to Cynthia Brock-Smith, Secretary to the Council, 1350 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Suite 5, Washington, DC, 20004, no later than 5:30 pm on Thursday, February 4, 2009
